We Will Try :)
by david on Wednesday 12th February 2020One of my best friends told me these wise words yesterday :) “We will try” :) regarding their attitude and efforts in training in this science :)
Sometimes it’s easy :) training in the Science of the Mind :) After all :) why shouldn’t it be? :) Thinking good thoughts is a relief :) Speaking good words is uplifting :) And doing good things is inspiring :) Being good is good :) and it makes us feel good :) This science gives us permission just to focus on the process, rather than worrying about the outcomes and results in life :) Trying is more than good enough :) What happens as a result of our trying, as a result of efforts, is something we train ourselves to worry less about :) or even not to worry about at all :)
We train ourselves to focus on the good :) and forget about the bad :) as much as possible :)
The foundational healing factors in this science :) of understanding :) kindness :) and generosity :) are not only positive :) they are purehearted :) Being innocent is a really sweet thing to do :) really nice :) We prioritise and work towards increasing our integrity :) self-awareness :) our general goodness :) in terms of our ability to forgive :) to be compassionate :) and kind :) to be virtuous :) fair :) transparent :) honest :) humble :) hopeful :) optimistic :) moral :) ethical :) to have good boundaries that stop our involvement in any form of badness :) to be harmless :) helpful :) to be optimistic :) caring :) compassionate :) supportive (to ourselves first, and then once we’re feeling well-supported and abundant, we try to overflow this quality to others) :) to be compromising :) considerate :) relaxed :) and relaxing :) peaceful :) We really study this science that’s all about learning the skills and qualities that make us really good :) while letting go of any bad stuff :) in our habits :)
How do we try to think good thoughts? :) We try to think thoughts that are understanding :) towards ourselves :) and other :) We try to train ourselves to think thoughts that are more kind :) towards ourselves and others :) We try to think thoughts that are more generous :) towards ourselves and others :) How do we try to speak good words? :) We try to train ourselves to speak words that are more understanding :) and spoken in a more understanding way :) more kind :) and spoken more kindly :) more generous :) and spoken in a more generous way :) How do we try to do good things? :) We try to train ourselves to do things in a way that’s based on greater understanding of this science :) to do more kind things :) and to be more giving :) in our behaviours :) and our habits :)
Why do we try to do all these good things in this training programme? :) Because we know :) we understand :) that this is the best way to happiness :) not only for ourselves :) but also for others :) and it’s better for everyone :) and everything :) even the plants :) even the little bacteria in our stomachs :) Because it’s the lack of understanding, kindness, and generosity, in the general culture that causes so much stress… and that’s not good for the little bacteria in our stomachs… Hehe :)
There’s always bad things going on around the world… and in life… Bad stuff, unfortunately, is a part of life... But there’s always good things :) going on around the world :) as well as in our life :) And often :) if not always :) or almost always :) there’s a whole lot of good stuff going on :) around the world :) and in our own lives :) that we take for granted… that we don’t really appreciate… as much as we really should… Meanwhile, there’s often so much bad stuff that we really should take for granted, that we don’t. Bad stuff that it’d be better for us to just forget about :) But instead, we worry about it, we stress about it, we fight about it, we get very negative and pessimistic about it.
So with this training, sometimes the reason why it can seem a bit hard, is because it trains us to go in a completely direction to what we’re used to going in. We’re used to taking the good things for granted, as if they’re not that important, and just forget about them. Meanwhile, we dive right into bad stuff and make a huge deal out of it as if it’s so very important. We’re trying to completely reverse those old habits in this science :) We want to learn to get really involved in good things :) really interested in good things :) and make a huge deal out of them :) because we’re finally learning and understanding through studying this science that the good things in life are so very important :) While for any bad stuff :) we’re re-training ourselves :) to take the bad for granted :) try and improve it :) but if we can’t really help in any way, to try to gain an attitude that it’s not that important :) and just to forget about it :)
Sometimes, another reason why it can be hard with this training, is because we’re surrounded with a culture that’s pulling in the total opposite direction. Or we’re surrounded by family, and friends, that are going the opposite way to this training. Going in the opposite direction to what’s recommended in this science, in this training programme, causes a lot of troubles to people in the world. Where people don’t learn and develop the good qualities I’m trying to share with you, a lot of hurt feelings, arguing, fighting, and other unkind, unforgiving, uncaring, and harmful things can arise.
We really need to try to go in a good direction :) in our minds :) in our hearts :) in our lives :) I really respect my best friend who told me, ‘we will try’ :) because they’ve been coming on here and reading the blog posts :) and studying this science :) and they’re starting to get good feelings :) emotionally :) My best friend is really smart :) really clever :) and when they do the training :) and study this science :) it becomes a ‘we’ :) instead of an ‘I’ alone :) because they’re training and studying along with me and you too :)
That’s why coming along to the support group is a good thing to do too :) or joining the online community in the WhatsApp group :) Some of my other best friends who are in the support group and WhatsApp community have been talking about this really uplifting wordplay for a while :) that when we take mental ‘I-llness’ and replace the ‘I’ with a ‘we’ :) mental ‘i’-llness becomes mental ‘we’-llness :) i.e. mental illness becomes mental wellness :) Last night :) a couple of my dearest best friends in our support group were talking about some sort of a quote that went something along the lines of, ‘united we rise, divided we fall’ :)
People, human beings, really do get influenced by the people, activities, and things in their lives. Last group we were talking about the Stanford Prison Test, a piece of research that was conducted in the 1970’s. That was a really unfortunate example of what can happen when we tell people to go in a dangerous direction :( If we tell people to think bad thoughts, speak bad words, and/or do bad things, or even if we put them in an environment where they’re around other people who are doing bad stuff, it’s highly likely the badness will rub off and spread around to others. We need to really try and commit ourselves to a life of doing good things :) and spreading the goodness around to others :)
So :) me and my best friends :) who are in the support group :) the WhatsApp community :) and all my best friends who share time with me individually :) as well as everyone in my life :) I really encourage us all :) to really try :) If we really try :) we’ll surely succeed :) to do a bit of good :) and avoid doing anything too bad :) each day :) And each day we succeed like this :) we’ll get a bit stronger :) it’ll get a bit easier for us :) and we’ll grow all these good habits :) Just coming on here and reading these blogs :) and doing whatever other good things you can do each day :) is brilliant :)
We will try :) whether it’s easy or hard :) We will try :) whether we get knocked down or not :) We will try :) whatever happens :) because this is the meaning of life :) Just like one of my dearest best friends in the support group said last night :) to one of my other dearest best friends :) in our support group :) ‘never give up’ :) Just like one of my dearest best friends in our support group :) has sung in a song they recorded recently :) ‘never give up’ :) Just like all of my dearest best friends in our support group and online community :) Never give up trying :)
